MegaSlate® plus energy roof

Active energy generation from roof surfaces thanks to the new MegaSlate® Plus Energy roof.

Flexible design with photovoltaics, solar thermal energy and skylights in a single building-integrated concept to give today’s Minergie-P or Plus Energy buildings an aesthetic appearance.

Our roofs are built for the future, guaranteeing optimum weather protection in new buildings and roof renovations.

Meeting high demands – long-lasting and robust

Our MegaSlate® Plus Energy solar roof system can cover either the entire roof area or be partially integrated, replacing traditional roof slates. It is TÜV-certified and tested for durability against wind, snow and hail, providing optimum protection against the weather.

The frameless solar modules (also called solar laminates) are quick and easy to install and can be walked on.

New perspectives for architects and property owners

Not only does the MegaSlate® Plus Energy roof meet rain-proofing requirements, it was one of the first building-integrated solar systems to fulfil the European fire-proofing standards.

This solar roofing material gives architects, planners and property owners the possibility to integrate photovoltaics into buildings in a functional and aesthetically attractive way.

Can be combined with thermal solar collectors

The MegaSlate® H&S thermal panel is a solar collector which can generate extra energy on your roof for heating water or feeding into the heating system.

The collectors have the same dimensions as the photovoltaic modules, are functional and are perfectly integrated optically into the roof, thus adding value to your building. The modular construction makes installation quick and easy, keeping costs to a minimum.

The collectors, which are filled with inert gas, have maximum efficiency and can be combined with heat pump systems. They offer the perfect solution for achieving Minergie-P and Plus Energy standards.

MegaSlate® with elegant skylight

The new s:213 skylight by stebler has been specially developed for use in the MegaSlate® Plus Energy roof.

With its elegant, edge-to-edge glass design, it blends in perfectly, fitting flush into the solar panel system.

The window meets the insulation requirements of the Minergie standard and is easily fitted into the roof. The modular construction means that the window is either available as a fixed glazed panel, or with manual or automatic opening mechanism.

Quick and easy installation

The frameless MegaSlate® elements are laid like conventional roof tiles. They are supplied with a sub-structure consisting of drainage profiles (GRP profiles) and three hooks for each element. An authorised roofer or other professional mounts the PV elements.

The solar laminates are fitted into the prepared sub-structure and connected up electrically with solar plugs and sockets. The elements are arranged vertically and overlapping, whereby the GRP profiles act both as support rails for the MegaSlate® elements and as water drainage channels. Building tolerances are allowed for in the construction.

If necessary, the solar modules can also be removed individually. The MegaSlate® Plus Energy roof can be incorporated into roofs with all common types of roof tile by means of aluminium mounting plates.

The new standard for roofs

The MegaSlate® plus energy roof can be installed with an additional protective sub-roof on roof surfaces with an inclination greater than 20°.
If a sub-roof is used with a sealed-joint system for higher requirements, a gentler inclination is also possible.

The solar elements are of a standardised size.
If required, customised elements can be produced which can be fitted exactly to the shape and size of any roof.

Maximum returns

The system construction with rear ventilation on each module generates maximum energy yields and prevents condensation water from collecting. Dust and dirt are washed off the glazed surface. The frameless solar modules prevent the formation of organic matter.

Thanks to the exclusive use of high quality silicon cells and of quality composite materials, the MegaSlate® Plus Energy roof generates demonstrably above-average annual energy yields and thus gives maximum returns – over many years.
